BandwagonHost announced on April 28, 2026 that Ubuntu 26.04 has been added to KiwiVM automatic OS installs. A stock Ubuntu 26.04 ISO is also available for manual installation and recovery workflows.
When Ubuntu 26.04 makes sense
- You are deploying a new VPS with no legacy dependency constraints.
- You want newer system packages, kernel behavior, and runtime support.
- You are rebuilding a server instead of keeping an old environment alive.
Before reinstalling
- Back up files, databases, SSH keys, certificates, and application configuration.
- Check whether your control panel, scripts, or application stack support Ubuntu 26.04.
- Use a test VPS first if the server is production-facing.
Practical advice
For beginners, the newest OS is not always the safest choice. If a tutorial or panel installer targets Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04, following the documented version may be more predictable.
